HSAs and the lessons of the Sooners
Quiz time! What
new health program…
- Did pundits predict
would fail in the marketplace, but now, on its second anniversary,
has roughly two million people enrolled?
- Will have between
15 and 25 million enrolled by 2010?
- Will contain
up to $75 billion in assets by that date?
- Will produce
management fees of an additional $1.2 billion?
The land rush has
begun for HSAs. Banks are swooping in to capture fees and assets,
insurers are setting up banks, and the pioneering plan administrators
are being gobbled up by both. The key is to get established
early, grab accounts wherever possible, and wait for the money
to roll in.
As the Sooners discovered
during the Oklahoma land rush, the early movers get all the
best property. The rest watch and wonder.
