Enrollment Companies and Voluntary—an Update
Today, voluntary carriers have to consider a variety of enrollment resources when determining their enrollment strategy—especially for those brokers who cannot provide this service on their own. Some rely on an in-house team of enrollers, but these are expensive to develop and maintain. In addition, it takes time to get this in place. For these and other reasons, many look to outside firms, like enrollment companies, for these services. Most of the “enrollment companies” used today are actually brokers that sell direct as well as offer enrollment services to other brokers. Eastbridge prefers to use the term “Worksite Specialists” to refer to these organizations.
The objective of the report, Enrollment Companies and Voluntary—and Update, is to explore the enrollment related services offered by Worksite Specialists. Specifically, the report examines the following questions:
- What do enrollment companies look like?
- How much do they enroll?
- What products do enrollment companies sell?
- What enrollment methods do they use?
- How do they handle communications?
- What carriers do they use?
- How do they get paid?
- What other services do they offer?
Where possible, the report compares the current study findings with a similar study published by Eastbridge in 2008. With this information, carriers can examine how these companies—and the services they offer—fit into their enrollment strategies.
